04.11 "The Raven"(The Alan Parsons Project)

Asia
Myanmar
Yangon

(They're actually crows, but I love that song ;)

As dogs reminds us it is nighttime (and frogs remind us it's dusk), The house crow (Corvus splendens) has a firm foot in Yangon and reminds us their presence every morning:

"…And still the raven remains in my room
No matter how much I implore
No words can soothe him
No prayer remove him
And I must hear for evermore…
…Quoth the raven, nevermore
Nevermore
Thus quoth the raven, nevermore"

I wonder what is "Nevermore" in Yangon…

We went on a mission: get tickets to Mt. Kyaikhtiyo, where is balanced The Golden Rock. [GIVE DETAILS] There is one detail… but I'll leave it for later. First we needed to figure out where is "the bus station" (we still don't know where is it… but tickets are also sold near the train station… so we went there) to find no bus tickets were available due to the imminent holidays… so we went into the train station

and we both got train tix!

They were much cheaper than bus tix… but nobody recommends going on the train… I guess we'll find out why tomorrow… (NOTE FROM THE FUTURE: really?) There is, however, one caveat: we have to return the same day, and there are no trains back by the time we'll be done. So we went back to try to get bus tickets for the return… it is so hot…

BB: Mine (black purse) is so hot…
BB: (pointing at my black hat) yours?
OB: "my hot is not so hat"

…And we walked… and baked… and walked…without success. Tomorrow we'll find out many things… oh, and back to the one detail: only men can put golden leaves on The Rock. Basia didn't like that; I didn't like that either… but if Basia transforms into Bashá… ):)

In our wanderings before getting back to the hostel, as always, we found the jewels of surprise:

("taste is good; flavor is great" ;)

A "car seat cooler"!

And a small art gallery:

(I love this picture of a girl shouting her products and the sound waves distort the image)

And we also saw amazing photos by Bagan Maung Maung, a famous local artist:

Final thought: we are slowly getting better rates with taxis: since the first time, we approach taxis and ask for a price prepared to haggle for a lower price… and we get THAT lower price! 3 times in a row so far! Do these taxi drivers read our minds? ):)
