04.16 "Gay Bar"(Electric Six)/"It's Raining Men"(The Weather Girls)

Asia
Myanmar
Yangon

A lovely face to start the day!

We headed to Thingyan (The Water Festival) a 4-day celebration that, combined with the weekend and the New Year celebration, encompass more than a week if relaxed fun (these people know what is good in life!):)

On the way, we get a delicious free dessert

And we finally arrived to fight the last battle! This was our first "Party": Hangover

There was delicious, inexpensive street food besides the abundant water!

(Not these insects!):)

I observed that women are mostly shy, while men (at least, most of the ones that come to the celebration on the streets) are quite metrosexual.

If you yearn to taste what it feels to be a rock star… come to Thingyan next year (before tourists become common). It was great for a long time, enjoying bringing happiness to people just by paying them a little attention. Then after some hours, the constant social interaction plus fighting water coming from every direction while dancing, made us incredibly tired! We became zombies, the living dead!

We heard a lot of phrases repeated ad infinitum:
 "this is Myanmar"
"this is water festival"
"are you happy?"
"I love you"
"hello foreigner"
"hello"
"thank you"
"see you tomorrow"
"you're so cute" (luckily I wasn't told this one; just Basia ;)

So, if you go hooked an want to come next year (highly recommended) there is a list of items to bring for next Water Festival:
• silicone earplugs
• bandana/hoodie/balaclava
• sunglasses
• sunscreen… (but it won't last)
• hat with neck/ear cover OR helmet with visor ;)
• sturdier-than-flip-flop-sandals
• water proof 5L bag
• sturdy ziplock or phone water proof bag

Walking back, I was invited (and accepted) to chew paan… twice! It feels more similar to chewing tobacco than an "acuyico" (semi-chewed ball of coca leaves + sodium bicarbonate)

As I said… so drained of energy! We arrived to our last dinner at the best restaurant we found in Yangon: Fingers Food Garden

After that came the time to shower and wash our clothes… and we had a flashback to the source of all the water people were spraying:

Green: Color of the water of lake Kandawgyi = color of spots in Basia's bra and underwear = color of puss in Basia's left tear duct ):)

Brown: color of the water after washing the clothes exposed to Thingyan.

… and another important thing: Today I realized why Basia notices so many things around us that I don't: my mind wanders inwards constantly, so I miss a lot of the impressions I'd receive from outside. I see that as a potential obstacle to emptying my mind during meditation, and also has hampered my ability to identify patterns in the external realm…

We get energy from somewhere and dedicate some time to our Blog Job before Nap time…
